WATKINS:   Martha Anne Brecht, age 86, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at her residence following a sudden illness.
     A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June14, 2006 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watkins with Father, Keith L. Birch, Monsignor James O. Barta, and Father Ardel Barta as Celebrants.  Interment will be held at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery near Watkins.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM. Tuesday at the church where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 P.M..
     Martha was born January 30, 1920 in Natrona Heights, PA the daughter of John and Pauline (Chladny) Pastierik and she attended high school in Springdale, PA.  On September 4, 1941 she married Christian "Chris" Brecht at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springdale, PA
     Chris and Martha farmed in the Watkins area for 35 years.  Martha worked as a Bank Teller at the Watkins Savings Bank for many years until her retirement in 1987.  She was a life long member of St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society.
     She is survived by her son, Robert (Deborah) Brecht of Keystone and three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Ballard of Cedar Rapids, Constance (David) Newport of Grinnell, and Sandra "Sam" Bender of Fairfax; grandchildren, Jay Irving, Eric Brecht, Tony Brecht, Keri Brecht, and Samantha Newport; three step-granddaughters; and three great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris on March 1, 2006; her son-in-law, Thomas Bender; her parents; three sisters, Mary Roman, Johanna Pundt, Catherine Molnar and three brothers, Joe, John and Paul Pastierik.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Mercy in Cedar Rapids.
     Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
