NEWHALL: Marie L. Boddicker Campbell, age 92, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at Evergreen Estate III in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall with Father Keith L. Birch as Celebrant. Interment will be held at St Patrick & St. Paul Catholic Cemetery near Watkins. The visitation will also be held at the church from 4 to 7 PM on Monday where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 PM. Marie was born October 16, 1914 to Albert J. and Caroline (Weichman) Boddicker. She graduated from Newhall High School in 1932. She attended Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids where she later became an instructor. On February 8, 1937 she married Donald Campbell at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall. The couple lived in the Newhall area most of their married life. Donald preceded his wife in death on April 23, 1999. Marie was known for her beautiful gardens and her great cooking. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Marie touched the hearts of many lives and will be greatly missed by all. Marie is survived by her sons, Robert (Jan) of Shellsburg, Donald (Pat) of Corona, CA, and David (Linda) of Newhall; her daughters, Donna (Jan) Mattson of Newhall, Sharon (Mike) Gilman of Rogers, MN; seventeen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Seber of Minneapolis and very special cousin, Eddice Weichman of Cedar Rapids. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother; and two sisters, Bernice and Lois Boddicker. A Memorial Fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
