BELLE PLAINE: Mary Weaver Cole, age 81, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Belle Plaine Community Center at a later date with Committal Services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Service information will be published when final arrangements are scheduled. Mary was born July 21, 1925 near Victor to Francis and Rachel (Deloft) Van Waus and graduated from the Victor High School in 1943. She married Charles Weaver at Belle Plaine and later was married to Charlie Cole in Cedar Rapids. Mary was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine and was a volunteer at the Belle Plaine Community Center. She also enjoyed membership in the Eagles Club in Cedar Rapids, traveling to Arizona, and admired and enjoyed reading about wolves. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Tine (Randy) Beal of Belle Plaine; her son, Frank (Cathy) Weaver of Williamsburg; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Mario Augnone of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; her son, Joseph Weaver; brothers, Gus and Larry Van Waus and her sister, Peg Augnone. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Belle Plaine Community Center. Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone is assisting the family.
