VINTON:  Marion G. Lutz, 92, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a sudden illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Rev. Kären Larson officiating.  Interment will be held at 1:45 P.M. Wednesday at the Dysart Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th Street, from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30 PM.
     Marion was born October 9, 1916 on a farm South of Garrison to Edward and Mary (Vogeler) Lutz and graduated from Garrison High School in 1934.  On October 10, 1937 he married Dorothy Baum.
     Marion and Dorothy lived in Dysart for several years until moving to the family farm in Homer Township, North of Keystone.  Marion farmed and operated Lutz Insurance for many years.  The couple moved to Vinton in 1989.  He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton and the Ascalon Lodge # 393 A.F. & A.M. of Dysart.  Marion enjoyed camping, fishing and visiting with friends.
     He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Vinton; his son, Larry (Mary) Lutz of Van Horne; two granddaughters, Brigitte (John) Drew of Natick, MA, Amy (Michael) Ripp of Huxley, IA; three great grandchildren, Jack and David Drew and Brenna Ripp; three brothers, Merlin "Bud" (Katherine) Lutz of Vinton, Robert (Carol) Lutz of Vinton, Rev. Clarence (Julie) Lutz of Look Out Mountain, GA and three sisters, Elberta Le Vine of Germantown, WI, Dorothy (Glen) Schulte of Norway and Phyllis (Dean) Harrison of Garrison.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Donald Lutz; one grandson Eric Lutz and one brother-in-law Eugene Le Vine.
     A memorial fund has been established.
