VAN HORNE - Mabelle F. Grimm Strellner, age 101, died Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 30, 2007 at Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne with Rev. Norm Bennett officiating. Interment will be held at Salem Cemetery rural Van Horne. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Monday at the church. Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone is in charge of arrangements. Mabelle was born August 30, 1905 in Big Grove Township, Benton County to Eli and Amelia (Hagen) Grimm. On November 30, 1930 she was united in marriage to John "Jack" Strellner in Toledo. Mabelle worked as a cook at the Van Horne Schools for many years. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Kensington Ladies. Mabelle was an accomplished cook and baker and also enjoyed handwork, making numerous afghans and quilts for family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Gary) Seibert of Bakersfield, CA, her daughter-in-law Carole Strellner of Van Horne, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, two sons, Donald and Dean Strellner, her granddaughter Amy Strellner, two brothers, Frank and Marvin Grimm and her sister, Mae Schultz. A memorial fund has been established.
