URBANA: Mary Helen Zieser, 74, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Virginia Gay Hospital Annex in Vinton due to complications of Alzheimer's disease.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana with Father David Ambrosy as Celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery near Spencer's Grove. On Wednesday at the church a Rosary will be held at 4 PM followed by public visitation and a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 PM. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements. Mary was born February 15, 1934 in Urbana to Walter and Faye (Cumberland) Hepker and graduated from Urbana Consolidated High School in 1952. On February 10, 1953 she married Robert Zieser of Urbana at St. Mary's in Spencer's Grove. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She extended a warm welcome to friends and strangers alike and was a kind and generous spirit who loved children, animals and gardening. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Robert Zieser, seven children, Jean (Richard) Rambo, Barbara (Steve) Murphy, James (Gloria) Zieser, Donna (David) Kelty, Peggy (Michael) Hayes, Sandra (James) Ham, and Christina (Phillip) Weltsch; son-in-law, Jeffrey Kisling, twenty-four grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Marilyn) Hepker and James Hepker; two sisters, Maxine Relf and Deloris (Burton) Winn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Connie Kisling; and ten siblings.
