ATKINS: Marie B. Kreutner, 95, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Virginia Gay Hospital following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, March 9, 2009 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins with Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery near Atkins. Visitation will also be held at the church in Atkins, from 3 to 7 PM on Sunday. A Memorial Fund has been established for Central Lutheran School in Newhall. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Marie was born July 18, 1913 at Klinger, IA to Paul and Lydia (Schmidt) Bruch. On June 6, 1940 she married Bernard "Ben" Kreutner at Klinger, IA.. The couple farmed in the Shellsburg and Atkins area and moved to Atkins in 1962. Ben preceded her in death on September 2, 1995.
Marie was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church where she enjoyed membership in the Ladies Society. Her family was very important to Marie and she enjoyed traveling to visit them. Since November of 1998 she had been a resident of the Vinton Lutheran Home.
She is survived by her sons; David (Bernice) Kreutner of Woodside, CA, Loren Kreutner of Port Angeles, WA, Jim (Christine) Kreutner, Leroy Kreutner, and Wayne Kreutner, all of Cedar Rapids; her daughter, Jeanne (Murray) Pommier of Bloomington, MN; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael; her great-granddaughter, Marlisa Greer; her grandson-in-law, J. J. Johnson; her sisters, Freida Huebner, Clara Huebner, Esther Bruch; and her brothers, Bernard, William, Richard, and Ernest Bruch.
