VINTON: Max "Moose" Madorin, 74, died Monday, February 23, 2009 at Virginia Gay Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 27, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Rev. Lanette Sue Van officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7:30 PM on Thursday. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Max was born February 25, 1934 at Marengo to Paul and Clela (Lane) Madorin and graduated from the Van Horne High School in 1953. On September 27th of that year he was united in marriage to Marian Wilson at Vinton. The couple enjoyed family vacations at their home in Wisconsin and boating on the lake.
For thirty-eight years Max owned and operated Madorin's Auto Rebuilders and in 1981 he built the Vinton Roller Skating Rink and owned it for sixteen years.
Max was a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church, Noon Kiwanis Club where he especially enjoyed working at the Pancake Breakfasts, and the Benton County Pork Producers where he was the Cook-off King. His pleasures in life included flying his airplane, early morning breakfast with friends at Lori's Café, traveling, the companionship his dogs, Buford and Snoopy over the years, and visiting his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Marian of Vinton; his children, Michael (Michelle) Madorin of Vinton, Mathew (Tracy) Madorin of Mountain Green Utah, Mitchell
(Debbie) Madorin of Brighton, CO, and Madonna (Matt) Merchant of Vinton; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley (Wally) Schulte of Norway; and his brother, Jim (Connie) Madorin of Bloomer, WI.
His parents; his brother, Danny Madorin; and his sister, Paula Climes, preceded him in death.
