VINTON:  Marion "Meg" Dulin, 83, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at his residence, following an extended illness, and with his family at his side.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 27, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St, Vinton, with Pastor Ron Sumption officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites conducted by Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post # 57 of Vinton, and Flag Presentation by US Air Force- Airman, 1st Class, Lindsey Landrus.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday.  A memorial fund has been established.
      Meg was born July 27, 1925 at Vinton to Frank and Edith (Imler) Dulin.  During World War II he served his nation in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 with the 423rd Medical Collecting Company during the Battle of the Bulge, the Remagen Bridge Battle, and the Ardennes Forest Battle.  Meg also was among the young Americans who entered Buchenwald Concentration Camp to free prisoners.  He was a member of the Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 of Vinton and the V.F.W..
       On January 21, 1950, Meg was united in marriage to Ruth Bolenbaugh in Vinton.  He farmed and owned and operated Dulin's Campground for forty-three years.  An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, trapping and fishing.  His greatest pleasure came from time spent with his grandchildren and attending army reunions with his veteran friends.
        He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Vinton; his sons, Timothy (Billy) of Phoenix, AZ,  Kim (Leona), Mark (Irene) and Matthew, all of Vinton; his grandchildren, Jason of Lafayette, LA, Melissa of Marion, Thad, Sean, Seth, Shay, and Haily, all of Vinton; his great granddaughter, Makenna Taylor of Marion; five step grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and his sister, Loretta (Ivan) Mollenhauer of Marion.
         His parents; his great-granddaughter, Sierra Jo Taylor; his brothers, Lorenz, Ray, Ralph Herbert, Pearl, Glenn and Earl; and his sisters, Merle Dulin Johnson, and Dorothy Dulin Scott, preceded him in death.
