VINTON Nellie I. Primmer Menning, age 95, of Muskegon, MI and formerly of Vinton, died Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Christian Care Senior Care Community & Nursing Center following an extended illness. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel – Vinton with Rev. David Russell officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the chapel on Saturday. A Memorial fund has been established. Nellie was born November 22, 1912 in Cora Township, Kansas, to William and Myrtle (Payne) Olson. On April 21, 1934 she married Marion Primmer at Smith Center, Kansas, Marion preceded her in death in 1964. Nellie later married Alfred Menning on December 1, 1973 in Woodburn, Oregon, he preceded her in death in 1983. Nellie lived in Vinton from 1963 – 1981 where she moved to Florida until the death of her second husband. She later moved to Michigan in 1993. While living in Vinton Nellie was an active member of the Foursquare Gospel Church where she taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed music and loved to play the piano. In her leisure she enjoyed crafts and her flower gardens. Nellie is survived by her children: Janet Russell of Muskegon, MI; Carol White of Arlington, TX; Gerald Primmer of Ketchikan, AK; and Norman (Judy) Primmer of Pine River, MN. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister, Viola Koon of Grand Rapids, MI. In addition to her parents and husbands, Nellie was preceded in death by her five brothers, Floyd, Eldon, Everell, Ray, Harold; four sisters, Gladys, Ethel, Eva, Faye and one great grandson, Christopher Jones.
