VINTON:  Naomi Mae Schreiber Gunn, 92, died May 1, 2009 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab following an extended illness.
      A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 4, 2009 at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave.,  in Vinton with Rev. Kären Larson officiating.  Interment will be held at Westview Cemetery in LaPorte City.  Friends may register at the Family Center from 9 AM until service time on Monday.
       Naomi was born May 1, 1917 at LaPorte City to Max C. and Laura A. (Rundel) Schreiber.  She completed her GED in 1976 at the age of 59. 
        Naomi retired from the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton.  In her retirement, she enjoyed and was well known for making pies.  People stood in line at the Vinton Farmer's Market to buy her pies that were made from scratch.  She was known to have sold 70 small pies in fifteen minutes.
         She is survived by her three sons, Richard (Anna May) Tharp, of Vinton, Phillip "Bud" (Koreen) Tharp of Cherokee, Gary (Jan) Tharp of Rogers, AR; one son-in-law, Roy Sturtz of Vinton; two sisters, Mildred Burris of Cedar Rapids, and Arleen Schreiber of Newhall; one brother, Jesse Love; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
           In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two daughters, Rhonda (Gunn) Sturtz and Vikki (Gunn) Bertram; two brothers, LaVerne "Sox" Schreiber and Harold "Mike" Schreiber and one sister, Bernadine Hay.
