VINTON:  Paul D. Ziemer, Jr., age 73, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at his rural Vinton home following an extended illness.     Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Phillips Family Center in Vinton with Rev. Dennis Sackett officiating.    Friends may call at Phillips Family Center on Monday from 5 to 8 PM.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
     Paul was born September 2, 1934 in Solon, IA to Paul Sr. and Fern (Baker) Ziemer.  Paul farmed in the Vinton area and enjoyed fishing.  He was also an accomplished mechanic and had a great sense of humor.  Paul also loved animals and was known to be a very good neighbor.
     Survivors include his sisters; Carol Huster and Rita Ziemer both of Vinton and Marianne Franks of Cedar Rapids, his niece, Becky Franks of Cedar Rapids and his nephew, Raymond Huster of Vinton and Paul's friend, Della Berger of Vinton.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Carl and a nephew, Rick Franks.
     A memorial fund has been established.
