NEWHALL: Ruth A. Lockhart, age 75, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at her residence following a sudden illness.

Private Services and Burial of cremains will be held in Madison, Wisconsin. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM on Monday, April 17, 2006 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Ruth was born December 14, 1930 at Iowa City to Alton and Ruth (Probst) Curry and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1948. On September 4, 1949 she married Derrell C. Lockhart at Iowa City. He preceded her in death in 1999 and Ruth now joins her beloved husband.

A resident of Newhall the past 50 years, Ruth enjoyed playing Bridge, and reading. She was an excellent cook and a life long Democrat. Ruth was a loving and devoted wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by five daughters, Laurie (Bruce) Winkler of McHenry, IL, Debbie (David) Johnson of Rockford, IL, Peggy Lockhart of Madison, WI, Kathy (Dennis) Lange of Batavia, IL, and Robin (John) Logan of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, Erin Winkler, Michael and Matthew Johnson, Mallory and Nicholas Logan, and Carrie and Chelsea Lange; three brothers; and her sister, Judith Curry of Newville, WI.

In addition to her parents and husband, her brother, Charles preceded her in death.
