VINTON:  Ruth L. Stuempfig, 93 of Vinton, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.

      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating.  Friends may call at the Phillips Family Center (605 Second Avenue) from 3 until 6 PM on Sunday, July 3 and from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Vinton Lutheran Home or LCMS Lutheran World Relief or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

     Ruth was born October 27, 1917 to Rev. A.W. and Lydia Sievers Brauer at Ida Grove, Iowa.  Her family moved to Keystone in 1924 where she met and married Rev. E. L. Stuempfig on June 6, 1937 at Keystone.  Pastor and Ruth were blessed with 73 years of a loving marriage.  Pastor preceded Ruth in death on March 20, 2011.

     Ruth spent her life canning, gardening and taking her daily walks with her husband.  She is survived by her two sons, Paul (Sue) Stuempfig of Sun City West, Arizona, Dan (Maureen) Stuempfig of Chico, California; her three daughters, Eunice (Walter) Kirkpatrick of Big Timber, Montana, Lois Bonefas of Waterloo, Mary (John) Baughman of Palm Springs, California; her eight grandchildren, Mark (Kathleen) Stuempfig, Suzanne (Randy) Ballard, Joshua (Tisha) Kirkpatrick, Tim Kirkpatrick, Brandon Bonefas, Zachary (Becky) Bonefas, Shayna (Dany) Steumpfig-Vitale and Nathan Stuempfig; and her ten great-grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents and husband Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Walter and Richard, one sister, Dorothy Offt and her son-in-law, Thomas Bonefas.

     Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and church worker.  She would work in the church wherever she was needed and especially enjoyed working with the Lutheran Home Auxiliary.
