VINTON:  Margaret "Suzanne" Beatty, age 75, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Vinton Lutheran Home where she had been a resident the past two and one half years.
       A Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick and Vicar Dan Lepley officiating.  Interment will be held at 9 A.M., prior to the church service, at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel from 4 to 7:30 P.M., on Tuesday.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
      Suzanne was born October 2, 1930 at Vinton to Howard and Ruth (Welton) Hagan and graduated from the Shellsburg High School in 1947 and then attended Coe College.  Raised on a farm, she had been active in 4-H.
     She was united in marriage to Charles Beatty on July 2, 1977 at Shellsburg.
     Suzanne served as the Shellsburg Librarian from 1974 to 1994 and as the Shellsburg City Clerk.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, fishing, dancing, flowers and building rock gardens.  Suzanne also enjoyed researching family genealogy.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton.
     She is survived by her husband, Charles; her children, Greg Beatty of Mondamin, Lindsay (Colleen) Beatty of Harlan, Steve (Diane) Beatty of Vinton, Randy Beatty of Shellsburg, and Brenda (Dave) Aitchison of Cedar Rapids; her step-children, Chuck (Ann) Beatty of Rochester, MN, Marion (Peg) Beatty of Decorah, Brian (Robin) Beatty of Keller, TX, and Annette (Lance) Wingfield of Keller, TX; twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Pollock of Mt. Auburn; her brother, David (Peg) Hagan of Chandler, Arizona; her sisters-in-law, Mae (Raymond) Buelow of Palo, Mary (Chuck) Koopman of Newhall, and Cheryl Beatty of Shellsburg; her brothers-in-law, Ron (Sharon) Beatty of Palo, and Don (Sherri) Beatty of Shellsburg.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepson, Mike Beatty; her brother, Jim Hagan, her brothers-in-law, Keith Beatty and Ivan Pollock; and her sister-in-law, Carol Hagan.
