BRANDON:  Glenn "Sid" Little, 86, died December 25, 2008 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown following a lengthy illness.
     A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton, with a Flag Presentation at 7 PM conducted by the Emil H. Dutler American Legion Post #177 of Mount Auburn.  Interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery at a later date.
     Glenn was born June 21, 1922 to Ralph C. and Ruth (Moubry) Little at Madison, WI.  He married Esther (Smith) Little on April 7, 1942. 
     Glenn served in the US Army from March 1943 to November 1945, and fought at the Battle of the Bulge.  After his discharge, he farmed in Linn and Buchanan Counties, but many remember him as the owner of Sid's DX in Brandon, IA for almost 40 years.  He was a 60-year member of the American Legion and also a member of the VFW.  Glenn served his community as a member of the Brandon Fire Department for 37 years and as a City Council Member.
     He is survived by his wife, Esther Smith Little of Brandon; his children, Mike (Beth) Little of Brandon, Pat (Meg) Sloan of Urbandale, his daughter-in-law, Carol Little of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Teri Jo Little, Brian Gray, Courtney Little, Candace Little, Shane (Susie) Sloan and Kami Sloan Harrison; his great-grandchildren, Paige and Sydney Little, Drew, Dylan and Jace Sloan, and Destini, Kody, and Kennedy Harrison; his brothers, George (Frankie) Little of Texas, Lawson Little of Cedar Rapids; and his sisters, Naomi (Howard) Yates of Palo, and Linda Tilbury of CO.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Glenn "Bill" Little; his daughter, Sandi Gray; his son-in-law, Ron Gray; his brothers, Laurance Little and Robert Little; and his sister, Mary Sue Wheeler.
     The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
      In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
