BELLE PLAINE:  Selma Emma Rosette Witt, age 89, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Keystone Care Center in Keystone where she had been a resident the past eight years.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 16, 2006 at the First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine with Rev. Michael Musick officiating.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery in Keystone.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 4 to 7 P.M., today.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
     Selma was born November 23, 1916 in Luzerne, to John and Bertha (Backes) Rieck.  She married Clarence Witt on September 26, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1991.
     After W.W. II, they farmed in the Belle Plaine area until retirement in the mid 70's.  They moved to Belle Plaine in 1978. After her husband's death, Selma moved to the Keystone Care Center in 1998.
     Selma loved life and she had a perpetual smile, twinkle in her eye and a sense of humor that she shared with family and friends.  She was very religious from her parents influence and her education at St. Paul Lutheran Church School in Luzerne.  She was active in the First Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and attended church regularly.
     Her duties as a devoted wife and mother kept her busy.  She had three children within fourteen month.  She was known for her cooking ability, especially desserts.
     Selma is survived by a son, Byron (Jill) Witt of Tama, twin daughters, Janice (John) Millett of Cedar Rapids, and Joyce (Denny) Christenson of Anamosa; five grandsons, one granddaughter; one step-grandson; and twelve great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all seven of her brothers and sisters.
