KEYSTONE:  Selma Ida Gahring, 83, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM, Monday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
     Selma was born November 16, 1925 at Williamsburg to Herman and Ida (Wille) Iburg and graduated from the Keystone High School in 1942.  On January 17, 1951 she married Charles Gahring at the St. John Parsonage in Keystone.
      Selma and Charles farmed near Keystone and moved to town in 2004.A member of St. John Lutheran Church, Selma served on the Altar Guild of her congregation.  She enjoyed bowling in Couples and Ladies Leagues and loved gardening and flowers.
       She is survived by her husband, Charles of Keystone; her son, David (Sherry) Gahring of Keystone; her daughter, Connie (Tom) Pickering of Van Horne; her grandchildren, John (Misty) Gahring, Michael (Jessica) Gahring, Daniel (Mary) Gahring, Jennifer Gahring, Angela (Jason) Franzenburg, and Benjamin Pickering; her great grandchildren, Jackson and Jordan Franzenburg, Brianna Gahring, and Alaina Gahring; and her sister, Arlene (Wilbert) Sindt of Van Horne.
         In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Alvin Schadle and her nephew, Richard Schadle.
