SHELLSBURG: Steven Earl Riffey, 55, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at U. of I Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton with Rev. Mike Andrew officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. Steve was born August 8, 1954 in Cedar Rapids to Stanley and Shirley (Boyles) Fiebelkorn. Following the death of his father, Shirley married Philip Riffey who adopted and raised Steve. Steve was employed by Universal Engineering for many years until the plant closed. Then he and his wife, Kristen, began trucking together. He loved being on the road, meeting new people, and seeing the country. He is survived by his wife, Kristen of Shellsburg; his daughter, Stephanie Riffey and (Hans) Heitmann of Palo; his granddaughter, Nicole Hoffman; his father, Philip Riffey of Urbana; his sisters, Cindy (Larry) Haars of Urbana, Gail Dyslin of Cedar Rapids; three brothers-in-law, Kevin (Sue) Booth of Palo, Ken (Julie) Booth and Keith (Marcia) Booth all of Shellsburg; his sister-in-law, Karen (Mel) Evens of Minnesota; three nephews, Jon LeVelle, Tanner Haars, and Travis Booth; three nieces, Nicole Langer, Andrea Booth and Claire Booth; his great niece, Amaya Langer; numerous aunts and uncles, including his two special aunts, Dee Kriz and Chris Fiebelkorn. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Riffey; his first wife, Debra, and his daughter, Denise Ann Riffey. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Raymond Hohl and all the nursing angels at the Oncology Center.
