VINTON:  Thomas "Tom" John Sima, 73, died Thursday, March 27,  2008 at his residence following an extended illness. 
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 31, 2008 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with St. Luke's Hospice Chaplain, Jeremy Hudson officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday. A memorial fund has been established.
     Tom was born July 21, 1934 at Wagner, SD to John F. and Mary (Mazur) Sima.  He received his education in the Palo School System and then graduated from high school in Stickney, SD.  On January 24, 1954 he married Phoebe A. Patten at Center Point.
     Tom was the owner and manager of Hanson Tire in Vinton prior to his retirement.  He enjoyed his work and appreciated all of the people he met over the years.  He loved being with his family, and playing golf and cards with friends. He took great pride in his yard and especially enjoyed decorating for the Christmas holiday and sitting on his deck viewing it all.  Most of all, Tom was very proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.
     He is survived by his wife, Phoebe; his sons, Thomas J. Sima of Marengo, John S. (Jill) Sima of Zionsville, IN, Ronald M. (Jody) Sima of Gahanna, OH, and Donavan G. (Jane) Sima of Vinton; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister Mary Lynn (Joe) Cline; and many nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; and his granddaughter, April Sima.
     His family extends many thanks to St. Luke's Hospice.
