VAN HORNE: Viola Henrietta Schrader Bobzien, age 101, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Van Horne, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at H.C.R. Manor Care in Cedar Rapids from complications of age. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne with Rev. Michael Musick officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. John Cemetery, Newhall. The family invites friends to stay for a luncheon immediately following the funeral service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Andrew Lutheran Church. In accordance with Viola’s wishes the casket will remain closed at all times. Viola was born September 3, 1906 on a farm near Van Horne to George and Gertrude (Kerkman) Schrader. Viola married Laurel L. Bobzien on February 10, 1926 in Van Horne; the couple later divorced. After leaving the farm Viola lived in Vinton for 20 years prior to moving to Cedar Rapids. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where she was involved in L.W.M.L and a 64 year member of the Home Missionary Society. In her leisure she enjoyed crocheting. Viola is survived by her daughter, Nadine V. Wax of Cedar Rapids; her granddaughter, Sharlyn K. (Dr. James R.) Munns of Peoria, IL; her two great grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie A. Munns of Chicago, IL and Justin J. Munns of Ann Arbor, MI; her sister-in-law, Helen Schrader of Newhall; her half-sister, Donna (Charles) Meyer of Savannah, IL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Viola was preceded in death by her former husband, Laurel Bobzien, one brother, Vernon Schrader and one sister, Helma Gordon. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of H.C.R. Manor Care for the excellent care Viola received.
