VINTON: Vincent "Vince" Maher, age 51, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Vinton, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM., Friday, December 22, 2006 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Pastor John Karrick officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, A memorial fund has been established. Vince was born May 16, 1955 in Cedar Rapids to Raymond O. and Henrietta Marie (Sommer) Maher. He was a 1973 graduate of the Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School in Vinton. On June 13, 1981 he married Shanna Renee' Brinegar in Illinois. The couple lived in Vinton for twenty-two years. This past March, Shanna preceded her husband in death and in September of 2006 Vince moved to Cedar Rapids. The past two years Vince served as a Customer Service Rep. for Toyota Financial Service in Cedar Rapids and since 1973 he was the Wrestling Reporter for WMT Radio in Cedar Rapids. Vince is survived by his son, Kevin Maher of Glenwood; his daughter, Michelle Maher of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Gary Lee (Sharon Lee) Maher of Iowa City, and Robert William Maher of Cedar Rapids. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Scott Maher.
