On January 1, 1944 she married Edwin H. Niebuhr at St. John Lutheran Church in Victor.
A lovely woman, in every way, Vera held a quiet strength and steadfast love, firmly grounded in her faith. She was a wonderful cook and baker, always generous with her famous chocolate cake. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran all of her adult life. A hard working homemaker, she and her husband of 61 years, Ed, farmed northeast of Blairstown and were an example of two people devoted to their faith, family and each other. Edwin preceded her in death on March 14, 2005.
Vera is survived by her children, John Niebuhr and wife, Donna of Blairstown, Sheryl Niebuhr of St. Paul, MN, Steven Niebuhr and wife, Vicki of Ames, Mark Niebuhr and wife, Diane of Blairstown, and Paul Niebuhr and wife, Lisa of Kingsley; her grandchildren, Kristine Rummel and husband, Mike, Joseph, Janelle, Johanna, Ariel, Moriah, Elias, Elisabeth, and Evan Niebuhr; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Paige, and Noah Rummel; and a special family friend, Jo Ford.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Virtus Cordes.
