VINTON: Betty Haefner, 96, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Keystone Care Center.

Betty was born on November 15, 1929 in Shellsburg to Howard and Bernadine (Bixby) Williams. She was united in marriage to Richard Haefner on September 30, 1950.

Betty was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. She adored being around her grandchildren, helping to babysit and raise them. She was a typical homemaker, doing the cooking and the cleaning. She also took in a lot of ironing on the side for many people around town. There was always clothes between the living room and the bathroom waiting for people to pick up their ironing. She went through more irons and ironing boards than anyone the family had ever seen.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Shelly) Haefner, Dennis (Wendy) Haefner, and Deb Faas; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Cheryl Kahler; and her daughter-in-law, Betty Haefner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Bernadine; her husband, Richard, who passed in 2000; her son, Michael Haefner; her son-in-law, Kevin Faas; her brothers, Charles Williams and Darrell Williams; and her sisters, Nancy Daniel, Dee Kahler, and Sandy Johnson.
