Olson
Dec 9, 1956 — Jan 11, 2024
NEWHALL: Brad Olson, age 67, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Luke's Helen G. Nassif Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, Newhall with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 21 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery in Newhall.
Brad was born on December 9, 1956, the son of Lyle and Nadine (Schroeder) Olson. He received the gift of Holy Baptism January 1, 1957, and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in May 1971. Brad graduated from Norway High School with the class of 1975. In May 1979, he graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in business. Brad was a proud brother of the Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Fraternity at Iowa State, and a faithful Cyclone fan.
Brad was a very active member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He had a servant heart and many of the things he did for his church family, friends and neighbors were done behind the scenes with no expectation of personal gain or even thanks. Brad was a life-long farmer and was known for raising Yorkshire hogs. He was a member of the Benton County Pork Producers, where he loved grilling during the fair. He was also a long-time 4-H leader with the Fremont Go-Getters.
Brad is survived by two brothers, Craig (Rosemary) Olson, Newhall, and Mark (Debra) Olson of Atkins; sister Jayne (Paul) Queck of Indianapolis, IN; 14 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-mother Marjorie (Newkirk) Olson.
