Craig E. Hesson, 71, of Marion, Iowa. formerly of Shellsburg, Iowa, went to be with his Lord on August 23, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Craig was born on August 14, 1951 to Keith and Maribelle (Main) Hesson in Newton, Iowa. Craig loved the farm life, raising hogs, and Allis Chalmers tractors.

The Hesson family moved to Vinton, Iowa in 1969, where Craig graduated from Washington High School in 1970. He attended classes at Kirkwood Community College.

Craig met the love of his life, Rose Marie Bonesteel of Shellsburg, Iowa in 1971 and they married on May 6, 1972 at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg.

Craig was employed for 40 years at Cummins Central Power in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Craig was passionate about sports and loved the Cubs, the Bears, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, modified car racing and particularly watching their only grandchild, Shaun play sports. Craig's greatest joy, however, was spending time with his wife and family.

Craig is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Marie; daughter, Tammy Hesson of Hiawatha; son, Shaun M. Hesson of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Shaun E. Hesson and beloved puppy, Lexi; brother, Kevin (Deb) Hesson; sisters, Diane Hesson, Karen (Steve) Helms and Dana (Tom) Lane all of Vinton; brother-in-law, Gary (Kaye) Bonesteel of Shellsburg; several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Nathan Hesson.

Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2022 at The Church of Grace in Shellsburg, Iowa. Interment immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg. Visitation will be at Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton, Iowa, 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
