VINTON:  Cynthia L. Slate, age 70, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.

Private family services will be held in the spring.  Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is assisting the family.

Cynthia "Cindie" was born on August 31, 1952 in Coos Bay, Oregon, the daughter of Clarence and Corrine (Reed) Moore Sr.  On September 20, 1982, she was united in marriage to Bruce Slate in Carson City, NV.

She raised her boys in Oregon.  She and Bruce moved to Vinton in July of 2005.  Cynthia loved to crochet, and crafted multiple pieces through the years.

She is survived by her husband Bruce of Vinton; 3 sons, Gary Slate of Vinton, Kelly (Sara) Dobbs of Sioux City, Jeffrey (Mikki) Dobbs of Van Horne; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 2 half-sisters, Vickie Dodson, and Julie Moore, both of Washington; and her half-brother Robbie Reed of Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Merle Moore; and her half-brother, Clarence Moore Jr.
