CEDAR RAPIDS:  Dora Dene Thompson, age 86 of Cedar Rapids died peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 after a brief illness.

Dora Dene Thompson was born December 16, 1934 in Webster City, Iowa.  She is survived by her four sons and two daughters, Brad (Lanette) Thompson, Ross (Kelli) Thompson, David (Kathy) Thompson, John (Dawn) Thompson, Trisha (Daniel) Ives and Jennifer Thompson, and by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by the love of her life, Harold William Thompson in 2011, her parents, and several siblings.

In life Dora was known for her energy, work ethic, and intelligence, but most of all she was known for her fierce devotion and love for her family.

Pursuant to Dora's wishes, there will be no public funeral service.  The family will hold a private graveside service in the near future with interment at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton, Iowa.

Dora's family would like to thank the numerous health care workers at Mercy, U of I Hospitals, and St. Luke's Living Center West for their compassionate and dedicated care during her last days.
