NEWHALL:  Flora Lorene (Andrews) Leaven, 85, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Newhall, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at her home.

Visitation will be held, Friday, March 24, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Newhall.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at St. Paul, with Rev. Jim Miller as Celebrant.  Private family burial will be held at Urbana Memorial Cemetery.

Lorene was born September 23, 1938 in Linn County, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Lovell) Andrews. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1956.  Lorene was a faithful member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, where she taught CCD for many years and also enjoyed bible study.  For many years she reserved Wednesdays and Saturdays for time spent with her friend and companion of over 30 years, Robert Johnson of Newhall.  Her other great joy was spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Chris (Mark) Lorber of Waukee, Kevin (Linda) Leaven of Atkins, Kayla (Chris) Christensen of Atkins, Kandi (Carlos) Perez of Minneapolis, MN; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her companion Robert Johnson of Newhall; 4 brothers, Gerald (Sandra), Marvin (Becky), Gale (Gloria), Jim (Jolinda) Andrews; her sister Eva (Loren) Kisling; and 2 sisters-in-law, Janet Andrews, and Deb Andrews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Kerry; and 3 brothers, Delbert, Loren (Colleen), and Greg Andrews.
