NEWHALL:  Gerald A. "Butch" Schmuecker, age 82, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

A Celebration of Butch's life will be held at a later date.  Memorials or cards of condolence may be directed to the family at 103 2 ^nd Avenue PO Box 397 Newhall, IA 52315.

Butch was born, on August 27, 1939 on the family farm near Watkins, the son of Leo and Blanche (Rotter) Schmuecker, and graduated from Norway High School.  In 1965, he married Nancy McVay at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Norway.  The couple later divorced.  Butch farmed in the Watkins area.

Butch dearly loved being a grandpa, and spending time with family and friends was his greatest joy.

He is survived by his children, Michael Schmuecker of LaPorte City, Rodney Schmuecker of Newhall, Constance (Dallas) Janssen of Waseca, MN; 8 grandchildren, Alex and Dylan Bear of Iowa City, Adyn and Sydney Schmuecker of LaPorte City, Ashley Schmuecker of Denver, CO, Cole Schmuecker of Cedar Rapids, John and Dillon Janssen of Waseca, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Genrose Schmuecker of Cedar Rapids, and Adeline Schmuecker of Blairstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Michele Schmuecker; 3 brothers, Marvin (Helen) Schmuecker, Donald Schmuecker, and DeWayne Schmuecker; 2 sisters, Delores (Robert) Fee, and Nadine (Orville) Schulte.
