VINTON:  Harvey William Weiss, age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at University Hospitals and Clinics.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2023 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton (212. E. 6th Street) from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Steven Preus officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:30 AM, Saturday also at the church.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton Fire Department, or the Garrison Fire Department.

Harvey was born on July 15, 1936, and was adopted as an infant by William and Gesina (Koester) Weiss from the Lutheran Home Finding Society at Ft. Dodge, IA.  After High School, he married Sharon Nordstrom.  They were blessed with 3 children, Michael (Patti) Weiss, Michelle (Rusty) Olson, and Martin (Kimberly) Weiss.  The couple later divorced.

Harvey enjoyed his involvement with the sheep producers, traveling, and his farm.  He had many fond memories of his working years at Hawk Bilt, Amana, and especially Manatt's.

On December 31, 1999, he married Beverly Underwood at The Little Brown Church.  They treasured their time together and shared the same love of farming.

He is survived by his children; his sister Dorothy "Dottie" and her husband Paul; and his wife Beverly.  In addition are his grandchildren, Miranda (Jared) Seliger, Jacob Weiss, Jessica (Darren) Kirk, and Lizzie (Hunter) Martin; as well as his great grandchildren, Tenley Seliger, Aiden, and Savannah Kirk.
