VINTON:  James L. "Jim" Bos, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by his family.

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Palo Community Center (2800 Hollenbeck Rd, Palo, IA).

Jim was born on January 10, 1945, in Oskaloosa, IA, the son of John and Elnora (Simpkins) Bos. He graduated from Freemont High School in 1963. Prior to retirement, Jim was a production worker at Cargill. Jim was an avid sports fan who loved the Yankees, the Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Vikings.  His other passions included hunting, fishing and traveling with Elizabeth. An accomplished woodworker, he made walking sticks and knives.  Whether playing cards, being treated to one of his legendary breakfasts, or just "BS-ing", his greatest joy came from hanging out with friends and family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; sons, Brian, and Brandon (Kelly) Bos; five grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Matt, Brady and Mitchell; five great grandchildren, Theodore, Lilly, Brennan, Ada and Bryce; siblings, Jacque (Clark) Vanderwilt, Sue (Pete) Peterson, Ardis Lee, Julie Schumaker, Marla Charles, Scott (Bonnie) Bos, and Frank (Jill) Whitmore; many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews; and his special furbabies, Conky and Sissy

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Elnora and Bill Robbins; his father, John Bos; and siblings Mark and Peggy
