SHELLSBURG: James Edward Young, 62 passed away Saturday September 26, 2026 at home after a sudden illness.

Born March 9, 1964, to David and Mary (Gott) Young. He graduated from Shellsburg High School. He was united in marriage to Sandra Russell on June 16, 1990.

Jim, as he was known to family and friends, loved the outdoors. He spent much of his time Hunting, fishing, trapping or just sitting out at the lake.

He was proceeded in death by his father, David; his wife, Sandra; his sister, Tina Marie; his niece, Angel; and father-in-law, Earl Ward.

He is survived by his mother, Mary; his brothers, David (Christine) and Scott (Joan); his daughters, Nicole Long of Center Point and Danielle (Connor) Sandahl of Vinton; 4 grandsons, Johnathan Petersen, Adam Podnar, Dominik Sandahl, and Wyatt Sandahl; as well as many nieces and nephews.
