VINTON:  Jerold Allan Detling, age 74, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Unity Point St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A Celebration of Jerold's life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2024, at the home of his daughter, Jenni, (401 Hanover Road, Cedar Rapids, IA).

Jerold was born on April 2, 1951 in Lemming, South Dakota, the son of Arthur, and Doris Louise (Clark) Detling.  He graduated from Marion High School in Marion.  On April 5, 1980, He was united in marriage to Patricia "Trish" Shaw in Moline, Illinois.  The couple were married for 43 years, prior to Trish's passing in 2023.  Jerold worked as a union millwright and was a member of Local 2158.

Jerold loved fishing and spending time outdoors.  He also enjoyed old westerns and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Joshua Detling and his son Jaxon of Vinton, and Jenni (Mike) Moody, and their children, Jersey, Cylie, and Michael, all of Cedar Rapids.

Jerold was preceded in death by his parents; wife Trish; 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
