VINTON:  Joe Don Freed, 54, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at his home in Vinton, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6 ^th Street) in Vinton.  A visitation will be from 11:00 AM  until service time on Thursday, at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.

Joe was born January 4, 1967 in Missouri, to Arthur and Glenda Joyce (O'Neal) Freed.  Joe graduated from high school in Arkansas.  On April 26, 2008, he was united in marriage to Shirley Meyer at the United Methodist Church in Traer..

Joe worked as a service technician for AWE in Traer, prior to his illness.  He loved the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing.  He was a dedicated family man,  His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Joe is survived by his wife Shirley; his 4 children, Meryia of Holland, IA, Tracy of Vinton, Brian of Vinton, Cindy of  De Soto, WI; and 5 special granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Michelle Freed.
