STRAWBERRY POINT:  John "Oscar" Coonrad, age 76 died May 14, 2019 at home following an extended illness.

He was born September 27, 1942 near Dundee to Frank and Lilly Coonrad.  On February 11, 1967, he married Judith Relf at Hannibal, MO.  The couple farmed near Urbana and were both employed at Wilson & Co. in Cedar Rapids for eleven years.   They later moved to Strawberry Point and operated a dairy farm.  He was employed by Henderson's in Manchester and Rockette Trucking of Strawberry Point.  He later resided in Oelwein.

He is survived by his children; Rick and wife Linda (Smith) Coonrad of Scottsdale, AZ, Kim Dahling and  husband Mike of Strawberry Point, and Frank of Strawberry Point; his companion Karen Meese formerly of Edgewood, grandchildren; Jonathan and (Brittany) Coonrad of Johnstown, CO, Ryan  and (Marcelle) Coonrad of Milliken, CO, Eric and (Nicole) Coonrad of Artesia, NM, Lynn and (Lawrence) Fettkether of Wadena, Alex Dahling of Strawberry Point and Robyn and (Waylon) Frye of Earlville,  twelve great-grandchildren; and his brother Frank "Junior" Coonrad of Buckingham and his sisters; Iola Jones of Banning, CA, Ellen Herbert of Waterloo, and Betty Parmely of Dundee and brother-in-law Ed Herbert.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents Frank and Lilly Coonrad, his brother-in-laws Wes Jones and John Parmely and sister-in-law Joanne Coonrad.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Garrison Cemetery.
