KEYSTONE: Lois Cronbaugh Hamann, age 93, passed away Thursday October 11 at the Keystone Care Center.
Lois was born September 3, 1925 on the family farm in Honey Creek Township, Iowa County, IA near Kozta to Clifford & Margery (Hay) Cronbaugh. She was united with Harlan Hamann in marriage on June 19, 1946. To them were born four children – Allen, Beverly, Janis, & Lori. Harlan died January 25, 2006. Later in life Lois also had a special friend, Bernard Burry of Cedar Rapids, who died May 21, 2012.
Along with raising four children and working tirelessly both in the farmhouse and outside with the crops and livestock, Lois enjoyed numerous friendships built around softball, bowling, golf, card club, church events, and holiday get-togethers. Bowling was her top activity for over 50 years, including teaching junior bowling at The Turners.
Survivors include her son Allen of Cedar Rapids, IA, daughters Beverly Gibson of Lakewood, CO, Janis Easton of Harlan, IA and Lori Hamann-Mekis of Centennial, CO. In addition, Lois had five grandchildren - Heather Hamann of Dallas, TX, Bradley Hamann, of San Antonio, TX, Eric Hamann of Cedar Rapids, IA, Stacee Novotny of Denver, CO, and Lisa Dyer of Justin, TX - and six great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and all seven of her siblings – Norma Slaymaker, Cecil Cronbaugh, Doris Danskin, Evelyn Schmidt, Merle Cronbaugh, Marilyn Miller, and Esther Fitzgibbon.
Services will be Wednesday October 17 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne with visitation at 10:00, Celebration of Life at 11:00 Pastor Leonard Ranson officiating, and luncheon to follow. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please give your donations to the Keystone Care Center.
