Obituary

ATKINS:  Loren William Kreutner, age 77, of Port Angeles, Washington, formerly of Atkins, passed away on Aug. 1, 2019 in Sequim WA.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Phillips Funeral Home (212 E. 6 th Street) in Vinton with Rev. Doug Woltemath officiating.  Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery rural Atkins.

Loren was born on May 27, 1942 to Bernard "Ben" and Marie (Bruch) Kreutner.  He grew up on a farm in east central Iowa and shared farm duties and responsibilities with his parents and five siblings. Whenever possible Loren would get involved in sports and scheduled practices and games around tending to his farm chores (or was it the other way around). Loren especially loved playing baseball and basketball with his high school teams, and could remember most details and stats about any game that he was involved in. He could also remember highlights from many of the professional teams he followed and was an avid fan of his beloved Washington Huskies. GO DAWGS!

After high school Loren spent time in the service of country in the U.S. Army Reserves. After his military obligation was completed, he then embarked on a long-term career in the airline industry. First working in Chicago IL at O'Hare airport and then transferring to the place he fell in love with, Seattle. He made many friends while working with Northwest Airlines and, also many memories. He took pride in his role as a union steward with the IAM (International Association of Machinists).

Loren spent many hours and went many miles as he enjoyed one of his other favorite past times, jogging. He could be seen running through the streets of Tacoma or rural Port Angeles and wherever and whenever he might feel the urge to put on his running shoes and run five or six miles.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Leroy and Michael. He is survived by three brothers David (Bernice) Kreutner, James (Christine) Kreutner, Wayne (Peg) Kreutner and a sister Jeanne (Murray) Pommier.
