CENTER POINT:  Lorena Fern Karr, 96, died Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.

Lorena was born on July 30, 1927, on the family farm west of Shellsburg to Everett and Erma (Van Fossen) Cress.  She married Ralph Edgar Karr on July 19, 1952.

Lorena, a.k.a. Fern a.k.a. Granny, enjoyed flowers, bird watching, playing cards, and word searches.  She loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by one son, David Karr of Hiawatha; 2 daughters, Cathy (Randy) Vincent of Marion, Helen Karr of Center Point; sisters, Marilyn Kolsrud, Elaine Boddicker, and Anna Mae Witherell, 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Lorena was preceded in death by her husband; sons Warren Karr, Ronald Karr; daughters Lynette Dahlke, Linda Horne, Barbara Trask; sisters Decie Mason, Alberta Mason, Doris Haefner; brothers Roy Cress, Ray Cress; daughter-in-law Catherine Karr, grandson Steven Karr; and granddaughter Stephanie Douglas.

There will be a private family graveside service at Urbana Memorial Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
