VINTON:  Madeline (Wheeler) Greenwood, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.

Visitation for Madeline will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 PM, Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6 ^th Street) in Vinton.  Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.  A memorial fund has been established.

Madeline was born on February 15, 1951, in Iowa City to Earl L. "Shorty" and Vivian (Swearingen) Wheeler.  She was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Greenwood on December 8, 1951.

Madeline was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting throughout her life.  An accomplished homemaker, she also enjoyed canning and sewing, and dearly loved the country.

She is survived by her sons, RoyLee Greenwood of Vinton, Tom (Brenda) Greenwood of Mt. Auburn; daughter Barb Stambaugh-Greenwood of Cedar Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother Bill (Hazel) Wheeler of Vinton.

In addition to her parents, Madeline was preceded in death by husband Chuck in 1996; daughter-in-law Dawn Greenwood; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
