Obituary

URBANA: Madonna Roseberry, 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Center Point Heights Senior Living Community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana with Father Jim Brokman officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Urbana. Following interment, a luncheon will be held at the church. The family will greet friends from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the church prior to the service.

Madonna was born on October 23, 1931 to John and Christina (Kramer) Smith on their farm in Urbana. She graduated from Urbana High School in 1950. On October 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Leo Roseberry, and were married for 73 years. Together they ran Roseberry Hardware in Urbana until they retired.

She would almost always be found coloring, cross stitching, or making diamond art when you walked in the door. She loved playing cards and she loved spending time with her friends in Card Club. She was always watching basketball games on TV, or Jeopardy, or Wheel-of-Fortune. Madonna and Leo loved to do crafts, play cards, and travel together. They were fortunate enough to visit many beautiful places within the United States and abroad. She loved spending time with her family, especially watching the little ones playing. She said she didn’t think she’d live long enough to see her first great-grandchild graduate, but she did, and she was so happy to be able to accomplish that.

Madonna is survived by her son, Randy (Kathy) Roseberry, daughters; Brenda (Mark) Tjaden, and Rhonda (Pete) Fronczak, grandchildren; Elizabeth Ashlock, A.J. (Katie) Narveson, Amber (Eric) Cress, Nick (Alicia) Fronczak, Aaron Fronczak, Taylor (Jeff) Hanson, Lauren (Zach Otness) Roseberry, and Gabe Tjaden, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents, John and Christina; her siblings, Katherine Smith, Donald Smith, Paul Smith, Rosina Takes, Junior Smith, Mildred Peters, Bernadine Hepker, Robert Smith; her niece, Colleen Maynard; and her grandson, Chad Roseberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial funds can be sent to Brenda Tjaden at 5593 32nd Ave, Center Point 52213.
