Marian "Marnie"
Chalupsky
Jan 12, 1927 — Jun 26, 2026
ELBERON: Marian "Marne" Novak Chalupsky, 99, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at Accura HealthCare in Toledo.
Marne was born on January 12, 1927, on a farm Northeast of Clutier to Louis & Elsie (Fischer) Novak. Marne attended the Dysart Schools, graduating in 1945. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College, and taught school several years.
In 1949, Marne was united in marriage to Elmer Chalupsky. They resided in Waterloo until moving to Marne's father's farm, where they continued farming until 1959. The family then moved to Clutier, where Elmer managed the lumber yard. In 1962 they moved to Elberon where Elmer was a Standard Oil agent. In 1968, Elmer was installed in the Post Office of Elberon, one of the last drafts. In 1969 Marne took other employment until 1980.
She had a great love of flowers & always had a garden which she shared with her neighbors. Marne was a member of the Vining Protestant church and taught Sunday School for many years. She held membership in the Legion auxiliary for over 40 years, serving as President, County President, and office in Third District.
Marne and Elmer traveled to many state conventions, enjoyed two months in Alaska, and a cruise through the Panama Canal. Along the way they attended many polka dances with friends and Marne played the button accordion---polka music of course! She used to take chicken soup to friends and neighbors when they were ill.
Marne is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Jerold) Hartgrave; her grandson, Chris (Heather) Fehr;
and her great-grandsons, Dylon (Kris), Mason (Anna), and Carson Fehr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elsie; her husband, Elmer; and her sisters, Helen Chalupsky and Betty Kupka.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. A private interment will be held at a later date.
