VINTON:  Mary McElhinney, 60, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 following a vehicle accident east of Vinton..

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 14, 2022 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton.  Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday, also at the funeral home.

Mary was born March 18, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa to Melvin and Rosetta (Burgess) Meister. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the class of 1981. In 1994 she was united in marriage with Robert McElhinney in Cedar Rapids. For the majority of her working career, she was employed as a nurse and caregiver.

Mary dearly loved spending time with her family and friends and her UTV rides.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert McElhinney; sons Shaun Meister, Joe McElhinney, and Alex McElhinney; sisters Sherry (Wayne) Marter, Terri Muzingo, and Mickey Michel; brothers Norman (Glenda) Meister and Roger (Barb) Meister.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dorrance Meister; and her sister, Jacqueline Meister in infancy.
