Obituary

BLAIRSTOWN: Mary Ann (Heims) Pasker, 78, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at her home in Blairstown.

Friends may call upon family on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street). A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Spirit of Faith Family Church in Cedar Rapids officiated by Pastor Jay Eberly. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Mount Cavalry Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Mary was born on January 14, 1948 in Monticello, Iowa, to Aloysious and Winifred (Prull) Heims. She graduated from North Linn High School in 1967. On May 24, 1969, she was United in Marriage to David Pasker in Prairieburg.

Mary adored her family and loved reaching out to family, friends, and neighbors to connect. She loved to crochet, bake, and can. She started baking bread around 6 or 7 years of age and was famous for her homemade bread. She grew up in a large family. She was number 5 of 13 children, so she learned early how to take care of people. Mary was an active member of Spirit of Faith Family Church in Cedar Rapids and volunteered with their Helps Ministry, which helps people in numerous ways. She loved to serve people and encourage them in their hard times.

She was a woman of the Word (Romans 8:11). She didn’t simply believe it, she lived it. Her faith shaped the way she loved, taught, served, worked, raised children, welcomed people, and spent her days. She had a remarkable gift for taking what she knew and giving it away.

She is survived by her husband, David; her children, Christine (Gregory) Ross, Andrew Pasker, and Rebecca (Brandon) Southard; her grandchildren, Victoria (Colton) Davis, David (Kelly) Ross, Anna Rose Southard, Johnathan Southard, and Emma Southard; great-grandchild on the way, Evelyne Ross.

She was preceded in death by her son, Terryl Pasker; her parents Aloysious and Winifred (Prull) Heims; and her brothers Al Heims and Jim Heims.
