Obituary

SHELLSBURG:  Paul Wayne McClintock, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Pastor Randy Kasch officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, also at the church.  A memorial fund has been established.

Paul was born February 18, 1936, in Vinton to Lyle and Hazel (Hagan) McClintock.  He graduated from Shellsburg High School, with the class of 1954 and began farming with his father on the family farm. Paul served his Country in the United States Army for 2 years, followed by 4 years in the Army Reserves. After meeting Rhonda Joy, at the Armar Ballroom in Cedar Rapids, they were united in marriage on December 17, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.

Paul spent his life farming alongside his brother Vernon, raising corn, beans, and hogs. He loved the work and was proud to have his son Ryan join the family farm in 2000. In 2025, their dedication was honored when the farm was recognized as a Heritage Farm.

Paul was active in his community and a life-long member and elder of the Shellsburg Presbyterian Church. Paul and Rhonda loved to travel. They spent 18 years wintering in Arizona in their 5th wheel, where they made many friends through the years.  His greatest pride and joy was his family. He and Rhonda built a lifetime of special memories with their children and grandchildren, rarely missing a game, concert, or event, and cherishing every moment spent cheering them on.

He is survived by his wife Rhonda; children, Shannon Miller (Eric Fitzgerald) of West Des Moines, Heather (Brad) Fox of Amana, Ryan (Kelli) McClintock of Shellsburg; 9 grandchildren, Brianna (Jaden) Cua, Brady Perry, Hagan Miller, Cameron (Jordan) Fox, Riley Fox, Carson Fox, Grayce, McClintock, Cooper McClintock, and Zoey McClintock; sister, Ann Krug of Atkins; and brother Vernon (Connie) McClintock of Vinton. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law Kenneth Krug.

Paul will be remembered for his kindness, quiet wisdom, and warm smile. He showed us how to treasure life's simple moments and remain grateful for every blessing. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
