VINTON:   Peggy A. Harris, 73, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Celebration Park in Vinton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Cedar Valley Humane Society, and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Peggy was born October 16, 1950, in Strawberry Point to Robert and Alberta (Huntington) Fortney.  Peggy was a graduate of Oelwein High School. On May 2nd 1992 she was united in marriage to Jack Harris in Westminster, Colorado.

Peggy never knew a stranger. She enjoyed gardening, talking on the phone, sewing, watching soap operas, her animals, receiving photos of her grandchildren, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Jack Harris of Vinton; her mother, Alberta Fortney of Hutchinson, Kansas; her daughters, Krista Hillman of Omaha, Nebraska and Shelly (Brandon) Glenn of Manning, South Carolina; step-children, James Harris, Kelly Harris, Jason Harris, and Jeremy Harris; 16 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Manuel) Villa of Oelwein, Iowa, and Alan Fortney of Hutchinson, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Fortney, and mother-in-law Elwanda Boston.
