WATERLOO: Robert John Hagenow, 88, passed away on Saturday morning, October 10, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Vinton, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 17, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Artesian, Iowa (2022 Larrabee Avenue Waverly, IA 50677). Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 AM also on Saturday at the church. Interment with Military Rites will be held at the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Vinton Lutheran Home.

Robert was born on January 26, 1938, near rural Readlyn, Iowa, to Ella (Boevers) Hagenow and John Henry Hagenow. On September 20, 1959, Robert was united in marriage to Mary Heine.

Family and faith were at the heart of Robert's life. Robert is survived by his wife, Mary; their four children and their spouses: Rebecca (Jerome), John R. (Paula), Lynn (Anthony), and Robin (Francis); thirteen grandchildren; Ryan, Megan, Matthew, Kylie, Rachael, Nicholas, Mikayla, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Barry, Becky, Chad, and Allan; twenty-three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Diane Hagenow; sisters, Gladys Piehl, Florence Wille, and Donna Hagenow, as well as a brother who died in infancy
