Bob was born July 13, 1927, on the Paulsen Family farm north of Newhall, the son of John and Claira Paulsen.  He attended school through the 8th grade.  As a young man he worked for local farmers and assisted his dad on the farm using horses and picking ear corn by hand.  He was drafted in 1950 during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Rammelsberg October 7, 1953, in Cedar Rapids.  He and Dorothy farmed the Paulsen family farm north of Newhall.  He had milk cows and raised beef cattle, hogs, and crops. He also ran the corn sheller and drove truck for the Newhall elevator.  He enjoyed bowling in a Thursday night league and was a member of the Newhall American Legion post.  After (quasi) retiring from farming he continued living on the family farm.  One of his retirement activities was morning coffee at Our Place and later Shelly's Sweets in Newhall to stay up to date on the local "news".

Survivors include his children Terry (Ron) Paulsen of Benson, Arizona, Gary Paulsen of Newhall, and Kathy Wampler of Slater, Iowa and grandsons Robert E Paulsen and Andrew Wampler.
