CEDAR RAPIDS: Robert A. Schrader, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St John Lutheran Cemetery in Newall.

Robert was born on February 14, 1939, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, to Vernon and Helen (Curran) Schrader. He graduated from Newhall High School in 1957. Robert served his country in the United States Army. He primarily worked restoring furniture and upholstery, which he loved. Robert also loved history, and he enjoyed colleting trade tokens, which were in use around the turn of the 20th century.

He is survived by his sister, Joan Reinberg; his children, Bruce Schrader, Brian (Marla) Schrader, and Marian Schrader; his grandchildren, Andrew Schrader, Ashley Zimmerman, Anthony Schrader, Josh Bascom, Stephanie Bascom, and Emily Bateman-Bryant; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Helen; his son, Mark Schrader who passed away in 1979; his siblings, Joyce Winsor; and his brothers-in-law, Keith Winsor and Ernest Reinberg.
