VINTON:  Ronald LeRoy Hunt, age 67, left this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in the woods at Red Brush, where he lived his solitary life, with his cats nearby.

A celebration of life will be held to honor him on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 4:30 until 8:00 PM at the Pleasant Creek South Pavilion by the boat dock.

He is survived by 2 children, Ronny Hunt of Marion, and Toni Hunt of Williamsburg; 6 grandchildren; brother Bill (Toodie) Hunt of Shellsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Helen (Conwell) Hunt; 2 brothers, Douglas "Jim" Hunt, Richard "Rick" Hunt; and 2 sisters, "Dusty" Davis, and "Dottie" Laughridge.

Ron was a simple but wise man, gentle at heart, who lived close to nature.  He walked his earth looking for amazing rocks for his collection, or deer antlers for his knife handles, and of course those majestic morels.  He collected business cards from his friend's travels.  Ron gifted many with a piece of himself through his unique walking sticks, knives, and carvings.  The models Ron made were his pride and joy, and he enjoyed teaching many the joy of repelling.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
